Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
The dictionary defines to forgive as to stop feeling angry or resentful towards (someone) for an offense, flaw, or mistake.
This means to remove the rage and resentment felt as a result of something that was done to you. So, when we repent and ask God for forgiveness, His gaze switches from us and our wrongdoings to Jesus – His perfect Son. When He forgives us, He doesn’t see everything we do wrong – He sees pure, holy children.
And we are then BLESSED. We went from being resented to being blessed… by one simple action…
“I’M SORRY, PLEASE FORGIVE ME”
When we grasp the concept of what it is to be forgiven, we automatically want to stop and do better. The gratitude will easily surpass the need to do wrong and motivate you to follow in the footsteps of Jesus.
May we fully grasp what this huge gift means, and may we pass this gift on to the people around us!
